DESCRIPTION: |
Just off Havana's Cathedral square, in the city's historic center,
there is a place that no one ever misses: La Bodeguita del Medio-or
just La Bodeguita. La Bodeguita del Medio owes its fame to the fact
that for many years it was a meeting place for intellectuals, artists
and Havana's bohemia, to the spontaneous character that has distinguished
it since its OPENING HOURSing in the 1940s, to the simplicity of its Creole
food and to the total absence of etiquette and courtly ceremonies.
La Bodeguita is followed by a history that is rich with the stories
of those who frequented it. Their presence is still felt in every
detail; photographs, different objects brought from everywhere and
left there, and even in the mixed graffiti of its walls, that are
so abundant that they have turned La Bodeguita into its own cathedral.
